       The Spanish settlers  stayed on Mission San Antonio de Valero, located on the banks if San Antonio River. The Spanish conquered a military garrison. Some of the Spanish troops called their new fort "El Alamo" meaning; cottonwood.

December 1835, the Texas' battle the Mexicans for independence. the Mexicans lost between 600 and 1,600 men.

 From March to May, Mexicans took control of the Alamo again. Now 2.5 million people visit the 4.2 acre site, to see what it was like for the Texans' Mexicans and Spanish.
